Whitney Whitney releases her first EP ‘1.1’, featuring the new single “Touching You” and more.
Introducing herself with a vivid blend of emotion and orchestral pop, Whitney Whitney shares her first full project, 1.1, now out on Atlantic Records. The EP acts as the beginning of a multi-part musical journey that promises more releases throughout the year.
What sets 1.1 apart is its theatrical quality, shaped by Whitney’s roots in musical theater and her passion for songwriting. Working alongside producer Justin Lucas—whose credits include Khalid and Daniel Caesar—Whitney has crafted a debut filled with poetic honesty and melodic twists.
Included in the project is the new track “Touching You,” a song that Whitney describes as playful yet emotionally resonant:
“‘Touching You’ is a song about falling in love again… But I wanted to channel what it must feel like. I think art is play…”
Her creative process mirrors the emotional turbulence reflected in the songs, which balance layered string arrangements with raw lyricism.
“Writing this EP was one of the most fun and rewarding things I’ve ever done… That’s what I love about this project,” she adds.
Whitney’s upbringing between Connecticut and New York City, and her current life in Los Angeles, contribute to the project’s broad emotional reach. Influences from 80s pop, Fiona Apple, and Regina Spektor are present throughout, but Whitney’s voice is unmistakably her own.
With 1.1, Whitney Whitney doesn’t just release an EP—she opens a door to an evolving artistic universe.
