The Underachievers drop “Homecoming”, a bold new chapter blending psychedelic rap and introspective vision.
After a five-year hiatus, Brooklyn’s own The Underachievers have returned with their long-awaited full-length project, Homecoming, out now via SLANG. Comprised of Issa Gold and AKTHESAVIOR, the duo has built a legacy rooted in introspection, psychedelia, and spirituality—and with Homecoming, they take it to new heights.
This nine-track release marks their first album since 2018 and finds them in peak creative form. Homecoming is a powerful reintroduction—an immersive reflection on their artistic journey and a bold step forward in their evolution. The album features hypnotic textures, rapid-fire verses, and refined production that make it their most mature and cohesive work to date.
Early singles like “Brand New” set the tone visually and sonically, portraying the duo as collectible action figures in a striking video that merges nostalgia with forward-thinking artistry. October’s “Have Nots,” produced by Issa himself, made waves on social media and tastemaker platforms like On The Radar, where related posts sparked 1,400+ comments and 4,400 shares. Issa’s work on the track earned him a spot on the Splice Producer list, highlighting his expanding role as a producer.
Also included is “Megatron,” a thunderous track with a gritty New York visual exploring themes of consciousness and self-mastery, soundtracking their journey from struggle to spiritual and material triumph.
Guest features include Brooklyn legend DJ Enuff, tying the project back to its roots. The duo has also recently performed at New York Fashion Week and reunited with Flatbush Zombies in LA—reigniting the Beast Coast energy.
With playlist placements on Apple Music’s Hip-Hop Workout, Red Bull Basketball Mix, Underground Hip-Hop Essentials, and Spotify’s Rap Rising, Alternative Hip-Hop, and Fresh N Dope, Homecoming signals a warm embrace from the culture.
