ROXEN Reimagines ‘Save You’ with Dark Electro Twist in New Alt-Dance Version

Romanian pop star ROXEN drops “Save You (Play & Pretend),” a moody, club-ready reinterpretation of her introspective hit.

Romanian pop sensation ROXEN returns with a bold rework of her emotional single “Save You,” delivering a new electronic alternative version titled “Save You (Play & Pretend)”—available now via Universal Music Romania. Known for her dreamy vocals and genre-blending sound, ROXEN explores darker territory with this release, transforming vulnerability into a pulsating club anthem.

Originally written in Vienna during a period of deep self-reflection, “Save You” captures the emotional weight of learning to break toxic patterns in love. “The song was written in Vienna when I was navigating this period of my life when I used to love without limits,” says ROXEN. “Seeing that it hurt me, I realized that the only person capable of helping me break my bad habits is just me.”

While the original version leaned into introspective pop, “Play & Pretend” flips the script with thumping four-on-the-floor drums and an ominous synth bassline—adding late-night energy without losing the emotional core of the track.

ROXEN first rose to prominence representing Romania at Eurovision 2021, quickly becoming one of the country’s most recognizable and internationally admired artists. Since her debut, she has scored multiple chart-topping singles across Europe, including “UFO,” “You Don’t Love Me” with SICKOTOY, and “Money Money.”

With over 200 million YouTube views and a growing global fanbase, ROXEN continues to expand her sound and artistic identity. “Save You (Play & Pretend)” marks the next chapter in her evolution—and it’s one built for both the heart and the dancefloor.
