Watch Robin Cisek’s “Rumor” music video — a visual metaphor for digital rumors and reclaiming identity.
Robin Cisek has released the official video for her song “Rumor,” and it’s a striking, emotionally layered portrayal of the harm caused by digital misinformation. Created entirely by Cisek herself, the video uses carefully chosen symbolism to portray how social media can silence and distort.
The alt-pop artist drew from personal experience to build the visual narrative, offering a raw look into the emotional cost of being the subject of anonymous criticism and rumors online.
“This video is my way of taking back control and reclaiming my identity,” says Cisek. “So many people hide behind their devices, spreading rumours and tearing people down without any accountability. I wanted to turn that painful experience into something that feels empowering — something that reminds others that they’re not alone.”
The most visually poignant scene shows Cisek holding a phone over her face with lips displayed onscreen, singing the lyrics — a metaphor for how online voices can override personal truth.
“Rumor” appears on her second full-length album, Tempered, released on May 30. As a body of work, the album illustrates Cisek’s evolution both artistically and personally. Produced independently, much of the album was recorded in her own studio space, showcasing a sound that is polished yet deeply introspective.
Cisek’s work bridges the personal and the universal, turning individual struggles into artistic declarations. With “Rumor,” she steps into a new era of creative control, using music and visuals not just to express, but to reclaim.
