mgk drops upbeat alt-pop track “cliché” with a cinematic video and MTV premiere. The album is on the way.

Multi-platinum artist mgk returns with “cliché,” an upbeat and nostalgic alt-pop anthem that sets the tone for his upcoming new era. Co-written and produced with longtime collaborators SlimXX, BazeXX, and Nick Long, the single is out now and poised to become an essential soundtrack to summer.

Premiering on MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop, and Paramount’s Times Square billboards, “cliché” has already begun making waves. Fans got an early taste of what’s to come earlier this week, when a pre-save link was launched on mgk’s official site — teasing the forthcoming album title in the process.

Directed by Sam Cahill, the accompanying music video channels carefree emotion and 2000s-style visuals. It features choreography from Sean Bankhead (Usher, Tate McRae) and captures mgk’s effortless charisma against a nostalgic backdrop rooted in ‘90s and early 2000s alternative aesthetics.

Leading up to “cliché,” mgk released a string of fan-favorite reimagined covers including the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris,” Juice WRLD’s “Empty Out Your Pockets,” and Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” showcasing his evolving sound and emotional depth.

mgk is also set to headline the 30th Anniversary Vans Warped Tour, with scheduled appearances in Washington, DC, and Orlando, FL.

Following the massive success of Tickets to My Downfall and mainstream sellout — both of which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — “cliché” signals another bold step forward for the genre-blending superstar.
