Lorna Reid’s “I Will Tell Your Story” Brings Jazz Tradition into Modern Form

Lorna Reid’s jazz album “I Will Tell Your Story” now comes to life on vinyl with soulful analog warmth.

Lorna Reid’s journey through jazz continues with the limited vinyl release of I Will Tell Your Story, a deeply expressive collection produced by Boo Hewerdine. Across 11 original tracks, Reid brings the traditions of jazz, blues, and soul into sharp focus with refined elegance.

“This album is simply great, soulful, grown-up song craft,” said BBC Radio Scotland’s Iain Anderson, who featured the release as his album of the week.

The album’s title track offers a window into Reid’s timeless aesthetic—delivering classic horn arrangements, lush backing vocals by Louise Clare Marshall, and Reid’s unmistakable jazz vocal presence. “Sweet Baby Blues,” released earlier, laid the emotional foundation for this new body of work.

Reid’s creative process was enhanced by Hewerdine’s production and mentorship. The album was recorded in Scotland at Grans House, Chem19, and Castle Sounds Studios, with mixing by Jon Kelly and mastering by Nick Watson at Fluid Mastering.

Her artistry has drawn comparisons to Norah Jones, with past performances including a standout show at the Rochester NY International Jazz Festival. I Will Tell Your Story affirms that reputation, with contributions from international and award-winning musicians, including Gustaf Ljunggrens, Euan Stevenson, and Konrad Wisniewski.

Now available on CD, digital platforms, and for the first time on heavyweight vinyl with original artwork and lyric inserts, this edition is a treat for longtime fans and newcomers alike. Reid will bring the songs to life during a performance at Crazy Coqs, Brasserie Zédel, on November 16 as part of the 2025 EFG London Jazz Festival.
