Lights unveils two new tracks from her album A6, showcasing nostalgic and dark wave influences.
Electro-pop powerhouse Lights delivers a double dose of her sonic evolution with the release of two new singles—“WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” and “SURFACE TENSION”—from her forthcoming album A6, due out May 2.
Both tracks were written and produced by Lights herself, with each revealing a different facet of her artistry. “‘WHITE PAPER PALM TREES’ brings some of my early-day influences to the forefront,” she explains, noting its nostalgic energy. In contrast, “SURFACE TENSION” pushes boundaries, blending dark wave and new wave elements and even featuring German lyrics in homage to the album’s broader European inspirations.
“I couldn’t decide which song to release because I feel like both appeal to such different sides of the fan base,” says Lights. “I had the idea to release both simultaneously and let the fans decide where they stand.” 
The visual element deepens the duality: Lights directed and edited music videos for both singles, designed to be played side by side. When viewed simultaneously, the visuals interact, offering fans a unique, synchronized experience—one track’s vibe complimenting the other, depending on which volume you turn up.
“WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” and “SURFACE TENSION” follow previously released singles “ALIVE AGAIN” and “DAMAGE,” continuing to tease the wide-reaching creative direction of A6. Fans can now pre-order the album, including an exclusive orange crush colored vinyl, signed editions, and CDs.
Ahead of her North American tour, Lights will host a win-to-get-in fan event in Los Angeles—Lights at Slipper Clutch (A)Live Again – an A6 Night—on April 15. Fans can enter exclusively via her TikTok.
