Lexa Gates shares new single “Latency,” produced by Jasper Harris and Aaron Shadrow.
Lexa Gates delivers a bold statement with her latest single “Latency,” a lush, piano-driven track that threads vulnerability and allure. Released via Capitol Records, the single is a collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Jasper Harris and Aaron Shadrow, known for their work with artists like Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar, and Yeat.
“Latency” rides a hypnotic sample from Hamilton Bohannon’s “Tell Me You’ll Wait,” creating a warm and intimate mood layered with Lexa’s confident yet questioning tone. Her vocal phrasing captures a space of longing and unanswered signals, especially in the line, “I got ideas of you, making moves on me, what’s with the latency?”
In her own words, Lexa calls the song “a sexy fantasy of a love left on delay. Waiting for a text back, or a move to be made.” She continues, “I got in the studio late night with the GOATS. From New York to LA. Being around all these rich older men sparked a curiosity in me. It’s a tale as old as time.”
Directed by Ganna Bodgan, the video presents a visually surreal journey through fantasy and delay. Lexa appears in looping dreamscapes, toting a large bag symbolic of attention and emotional projection. Scenes shift from bustling urban moments to serene coastal escapes, ending in the same place they began—mirroring the emotional loop of desire and waiting.
This new chapter follows the attention surrounding Lexa’s Elite Vessel installation in New York, where she spent 10 hours inside a transparent box. That bold statement drew over 300 million views across platforms and highlighted her commitment to immersive, conceptual storytelling.
“Latency” further positions Lexa Gates as an artist capable of turning emotional nuance into powerful, highly stylized music experiences.
