Rising artist Josiah Queen releases Yesterday Is Dead, a high-energy anthem of hope and renewal. Listen now via Capitol Records/CCMG.
Following the success of Can’t Steal My Joy featuring Brandon Lake—which amassed over 12.5 million streams—breakout singer-songwriter Josiah Queen returns with Yesterday Is Dead, a bold declaration of hope, freedom, and fresh starts. Out now via Capitol Records/Capitol Christian Music Group (CCMG), the song blends Queen’s signature Americana-leaning sound with an uplifting message of renewal.
Written by Queen and John Michael Howell, who also produced the track, Yesterday Is Dead delivers an electrifying chorus: “I keep my eyes / On what lies ahead / Today is a new day / Yesterday is dead.” The song encapsulates the energy of letting go of the past and embracing new beginnings.
“‘Yesterday Is Dead feels like a weight being lifted off of my back,’” Queen shares. “‘This song is about the freedom and new life I have found in Jesus. It was born from the release of past regrets, and I hope it brings that same sense of renewal to others.’”
Queen will perform Yesterday Is Dead live on Fox & Friends Weekend on Easter Sunday (April 20) as part of the 2025 Faith & Friends Concert Series. With teaser videos for the track surpassing three million views ahead of its release, anticipation has been high.
After wrapping his U.K. and European tour, Queen kicks off the U.S. leg of his 2025 global headline tour on March 26 in Cincinnati, including a stop at NYC’s Gramercy Theatre on March 28.
