Weeping Angel’ arrives with 13 tracks, ‘Pledge’ leads, grief to growth arc, plus the striking ‘Corset’ visual and sound.

The next chapter for iyla is here. ‘Weeping Angel’, her debut album, lands on all platforms with 13 tracks that trace grief, metamorphosis, and a renewed creative pulse. The sequence gathers familiar favorites, ‘Wild’, ‘Strut’, ‘Overboard’, and ‘Corset’, and introduces the new focus track ‘Pledge’, positioned at the center of this release.

“‘Pledge’ is a sexy and confident demand for a man to step his game up,” says iyla of the new track. “Drop to your knees or fly away forever.”

The record was forged in the aftermath of a life changing loss, the passing of her mother, which frames the album’s blend of spiritual, sensual, and cinematic energies. In her statement, iyla calls the project a reflection of what she could not say aloud at the time, cast across freedom, pain, tenderness, and the spectrum of love. She describes a process that moved from tears to sunlight, from wreckage to art, and a discovery that shaped what the album became.

“Weeping Angel is my debut album, named after the monster that is love,” iyla reveals. “We created this album in the most challenging and transformative couple years of my life. It’s a reflection of everything I felt but couldn’t say out loud… it’s freedom, sensuality, heartache, pain, moments of clarity, grief and the spectrum that is to love and be loved in return. These songs came from laughs and from screams. This album was drowned in tears and brought back to the surface again to see the sun. Creating this project was a way of surviving, of making art from the wreckage, and discovering new parts of myself through it all. Weeping Angel is spiritual, provocative, and a ride you will never want to get off of.”

Several tracks anchor the album’s emotional range. ‘Ave Maria’ pairs devotion with desire, underscored by her note, “If you’re spiritual, there’s often an expectation you can’t embrace your own sexuality,” she notes. ‘Cotton Candy Clouds’ is a dreamy, pink washed remembrance of her mother, “Her favorite color was pink, and my favorite color was never pink. Since her death, my favorite color is now pink,” iyla shares. Elsewhere, ‘Twin Flame’ leans into internal push and pull, ‘Join Hands’ evokes a sanctuary feel, and ‘Skirt Hurt (Redemption)’ carries both softness and steel, “It’s the first track I wrote after my mom’s passing,” she says. “I always need to have this stance of bad-bitch energy—but conveyed in a poetic and timeless way.”

Preceding the album, ‘Corset’ set a cinematic tone with production by longtime collaborator Kadis. The single captures emotional whiplash inside a relationship that grips tight, with a visual directed by Justin Moser, and creative direction by iyla, that animates the ‘Weeping Angel’ artwork in haunting, surreal imagery.
