iyla Directs Cinematic “Corset” Video in Lead-Up to ‘Weeping Angel’ Album

iyla releases cinematic video for “Corset” and confirms debut album ‘Weeping Angel’, dropping August 8.

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter iyla is back with a visually arresting video for her latest single, “Corset.” The clip—available now—serves as a direct extension of the artwork for her forthcoming debut album Weeping Angel, out August 8 via her creative team and longtime production partners.

Acting as creative director, iyla worked with Justin Moser to bring the visual to life. Together, they created a surreal environment that underscores the emotional tension in “Corset,” blending stylized fashion, movement, and symbolic imagery. The makeup artistry by Sasha Glasser and Raylene Guzmán, paired with bold styling by Carlos Aviles, adds depth to the video’s dreamlike atmosphere.

The song itself, produced by Kadis, explores the conflicting emotions of a relationship that both captivates and suffocates. The metaphor of a corset — tight, beautiful, but ultimately painful — provides the thematic core of the track.

The visual debut follows iyla’s official announcement of Weeping Angel, a 13-track record that channels grief into vulnerability and strength after the life-altering loss of her mother.

“I’m proud of everything I’ve done, but this is different,” iyla says. “The fact I made this record in the most challenging time of my life is a pearl I’m so proud of.”

iyla’s fusion of concept-driven visuals and deeply personal lyricism makes “Corset” a powerful preview of what Weeping Angel promises to deliver this summer.
