LA-born producer Introspekt shares new single “The Transmission” and reveals debut album “Moving The Center”—out June 20 via Tempa.
Genre-redefining DJ and producer Introspekt continues her rise with the release of “The Transmission,” a striking new single that comes alongside the announcement of her debut album Moving The Center, due out June 20 on Tempa.
Known for reshaping UK garage and bass through a queer, Black, trans lens, Introspekt has developed an unmistakable sound rooted in dubstep, club music, and vocal sampling. “The Transmission” is a rich, instrumental showcase of that vision—fusing dark dubstep basslines with vogue ballroom influences to create a deeply physical, immersive listening experience.
As an LA native now based in New York, Introspekt has spent the last several years pushing underground club culture forward. With last year’s collaborative EP Tectónica expanding her sound, Moving The Center builds on that trajectory. The new album pays homage to dubstep’s South London roots while decentralizing the narrative to reflect a more global—and more femme-forward—story. 
“Moving The Center embodies an alternate perspective to that which has been dominant in dance music, particularly so-called ‘bass music’,” says Introspekt. “The narrative it presents is one which throws a wrench in the seemingly common perception of Dubstep as a masculinist sensibility. Moving The Center pushes a feminine physicality to the front of the bassbins. Femmes to the front!”
Fusing garage, East Coast club sounds, and the transatlantic rhythms of the Black diaspora, Introspekt’s debut album promises to be as disruptive as it is essential. With “The Transmission,” the next chapter begins.
