Memphis artist Healy brings emotional honesty and live-band energy to new album, out July 18.
Healy, the Memphis-based artist known for his genre-blending style, has announced his third album, Force Of Nature, arriving on July 18 via BMG. Blending lo-fi textures with soulful introspection, the eight-song release marks a powerful return after a two-year hiatus.
The album’s standout single “SELFISH” is already streaming, revealing a fuller, richer sound from Healy’s collaboration with his longtime band. “This was the first time I had ever worked on recorded music with my band,” Healy explains. “We’ve been playing together for close to 8 years, and I think that synergy shines on ‘Selfish.’”
Force Of Nature draws on Memphis soul traditions and modern R&B/indie aesthetics. Produced by Austin Daniel Brown, the record also features contributions from Public Library Commute, Ben Callicott, Ali Abu-Khraybeh, and a feature from Hailey Knox.
Listeners can expect a layered, immersive album. “I want my music to be this expanding, kind of contracting thing — alive,” Healy states.
