EthanUno drops necesidad, a genre-blending EP featuring hyperpop, Latin croon, and glitchy dance, out now via Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope.
Genre-bending artist EthanUno steps into the spotlight with his debut solo EP, necesidad, a vibrant fusion of bilingual lyricism, hyperpop, R&B, and glitchy dance influences. Out now via Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope, the project cements EthanUno’s status as a boundary-pushing singer, songwriter, and producer.
A standout from the EP, the previously unheard “las mañanas”, encapsulates the happy-sad energy EthanUno has perfected over his past singles. With pitched-up vocals, lo-bit synths, and jittery beats, the song showcases his signature sonic experimentation. As he reflects on heartbreak, he sings: “Wish that I could tell you, all the hell I went through / Just for you to mess it up, and say you never meant to.”

Every element of necesidad—from writing and production to mastering—was crafted by EthanUno in his home studio, resulting in a project that is uniquely his own. Whether it’s the pulsating house beats of “DQTC”, the IDM-infused swagger of “someone like u”, or the devotional energy of “TLD”, the EP delivers a diverse yet cohesive listening experience.
Reflecting on the project, EthanUno shares:
“Signing to a major label has been one of the biggest growing up moments in my life. This moment has made me realize that everything we do in life is out of necessity. I’ve realized you can be f—ing with someone else’s life through your own fight for what you believe in — that’s the nature of necessity.”
With early support from Frank Ocean and Rosalía, plus recognition from Entertainment Tonight and Ones To Watch, EthanUno is poised for a major breakout with necesidad.
