Daniel Seavey’s “Gateway Drug” drops with a new video, previewing his upcoming solo album and expanding his pop-rock repertoire.
Daniel Seavey, the multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and producer, has released his latest single, “Gateway Drug,” along with an official music video via Atlantic Records. Known for drawing from early-2000s pop-rock influences, this new track marks Seavey’s third collaboration with hitmaker Michael Pollack (Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber).
Seavey’s fanbase is already familiar with the lyrics, thanks to live performances during his tour supporting Benson Boone. “Gateway Drug” builds on the momentum of his earlier singles “The Older You Get” and “Other People,” all of which lead up to his highly anticipated debut solo album.
“I have less to prove and more to express lately,” Seavey explains. “Music is becoming fun for me again. ‘Gateway Drug’ is a super fun song, and that’s exactly what I intended it to be.”
Following his debut headline performance at Lollapalooza, Seavey is now performing alongside Benson Boone before joining Dean Lewis for an Australian arena tour later this year. The two recently teased the tour with a duet of Coldplay’s “Fix You,” giving fans a preview of what to expect.
In a recent Nightline interview with ABC News’ Megan Ryte, Seavey reflected on his journey—from co-founding Why Don’t We to weathering personal and professional challenges. After a turbulent few years, Seavey is now embracing creative freedom and pursuing his solo career with bold new sounds.
