Welsh rising star CATTY drops “Joyride,” a messy, theatrical follow-up to her debut EP.
Welsh glam-pop provocateur CATTY makes her explosive return with “Joyride,” the first new release since her critically acclaimed debut EP Healing Out Of Spite lit up 2024. Premiered on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop as Jodie Bryant’s Future Bop, Joyride signals a bold, emotional plunge into the aftermath of romantic chaos.
Written in what CATTY calls “pure panic,” the song channels heartbreak, hope, and reckless vulnerability in equal measure. Surging with baroque keys, stabbing strings, and swirling brass, Joyride lays the groundwork for a massive vocal performance—and an emotional freefall.

“Everything I write is unfortunately a little too true to life,” says CATTY. “I was done—love had chewed me up and spat me out—but I couldn’t stay away from her… I tried what I think is called a situationship for all of two weeks (what the fuck is a situationship?)… So Joyride is basically me saying, I’m all in, please don’t hurt me.”
CATTY navigates love’s wreckage with cutting self-doubt (“Watching my dignity circle the drain”), fatalism (“I don’t even care if I get out alive”), and reluctant hope (“Am I the one? Before the one that stays?”). A “sapphic Thelma & Louise”-inspired music video is en route, featuring Amy Spalding.
Following a triumphant 2024—supporting Stevie Nicks, headlining sold-out shows, and being named a breakout artist by NME—CATTY’s star continues to rise. Joyride is out now via AWAL, with festival appearances at The Great Escape, CloseUp Festival, Birmingham Pride, and Latitude.
