Brazen Barbie delivers her fiercest track yet with “Ain’t No Dummy,” lifted from her upcoming mixtape.
Kenyan-Australian artist Brazen Barbie has released “Ain’t No Dummy,” a lush new single that sets the tone for her upcoming mixtape BRAZEN. With a high-energy beat and defiant lyrics, the track asserts Barbie’s dual strength: glamor and grit.
Influenced by artists like Missy Elliot and Eve, the song blends retro cues with modern production, while never veering into imitation. “Ain’t No Dummy is about knowing better and still doing it anyway, but on your terms,” shares Brazen Barbie. “It’s also about people underestimating you… when really you’re ten steps ahead.”
The visual, crafted in collaboration with NBreezy, plays with identity, power, and perception. “It’s playful, hyper feminine, super dolled up… but there’s intention behind everything.”
Due out August 1, BRAZEN features 12 tracks that document Barbie’s creative voice in full color. “BRAZEN is a self portrait,” she says. “Each track is a snapshot… the good, the gritty, the tired.”
Barbie has gained recognition for her live performances at Promiseland and Sydney Fringe Festival, and was recently included in Acclaim Magazine’s All Stars Class of ’24.
