Rising singer-songwriter Ally Salort, the Los Angeles-based artist originally from Maplewood, New Jersey, unveils her latest single, “Horror Movie,” out now via Disruptor Records/RCA Records. With her signature blend of emotional lyricism and dark, cinematic storytelling, Salort delves into the familiar pain of revisiting a toxic relationship—where love becomes the villain.
“Horror Movie” underscores Ally’s growing reputation for lyrical vulnerability and moody sonic textures, painting a chilling picture of emotional entrapment. On the track, she reflects, “Horror movie is one big metaphor for going back to a person that will hurt you every time. Opening the door (the relationship) that everyone around you is screaming for you to not open; very similar to the girl that dies first in every scary film. I had the lines ‘I’m damned if I do but I’ll be more damned if I don’t’ and from there we wrote the chorus. Can’t wait for people to hear the whole thing!”
Her artistic journey began at age seven, when inspired by her brother’s recitals, she asked to take singing lessons. At 14, a talent search brought her to Los Angeles, where she began building connections and later grew a dedicated fanbase through YouTube and TikTok. Now, after supporting Mackenzy Mackay on a European tour, Ally is preparing her debut EP, continuing to explore themes of love, self-discovery, and resilience.
