Ally Evenson unveils “The Line” — a fearless, genre-blending single paired with a striking body horror video.

Ally Evenson kicks off a new musical era with the release of “The Line,” a sonically adventurous track now available via Assemble Sound/Atlantic Records. Known for pushing indie boundaries, Evenson’s latest merges country melodies with drum & bass textures—resulting in a track that’s as quirky as it is addictive.

Collaborating again with producer nydge, she explores intrusive thoughts in a playful yet thought-provoking way. “‘The Line’ is a song originally made as a joke,” Evenson explains. “After the song was made, we realized it was actually extremely rad and decided it was LESS of a joke but still sort of a joke. Country D&B song about intrusive thoughts!”

Premiered by Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, “The Line” is supported by a vivid, body horror-themed video that stretches the imagination. “The video, however, is almost a prequel to my debut album, BLUE SUPER LOVE,” she notes. “I love body horror. I love acting. I made a joke about eating the blue hat I wear all the time and thought, what a way to switch eras. By vomiting up the hat…”

Raised outside Detroit, Evenson’s early songwriting roots, encouraged by her musician father, laid the foundation for her raw, expressive style. From her 2020 debut Not So Pretty to the 2023 EP In My Dreams, You Laugh at Me, her evolution continues to draw critical praise and underground buzz. With “The Line”, she offers a sneak peek at the inventive and fearless path ahead.
