UK singer-songwriter Tim Camrose is carving a distinctive path with the re-release of his single ‘Light in the Dark’. Dropping on September 19th, this powerful track sees Camrose team up with the Collectives Gospel Choir to rework a song that first appeared on his 2022 debut album Half of My Life.
This new version delivers both emotional intensity and spiritual depth, enhanced by the choir’s soaring harmonies. Their presence adds soul and resonance to a track born from Camrose’s unique journey — a journey that includes a long career as a surgeon and university professor before stepping into music full-time.
‘Light in the Dark’ draws its inspiration from Camrose’s experience working with homeless youth who had experienced trauma. The song’s message of hope and resilience is amplified by the central lyric: “You don’t want my pity, just a chance to show the world what you can do.” The release was timed purposefully to align with World Homeless Day, underlining its message of social awareness.

Though music took a back seat while he pursued medicine, it was always present for Camrose. Now, he channels decades of observation and empathy into songs influenced by legends like Billy Joel, Elton John, and Bruce Springsteen. His storytelling ability is central to his work, which will be further explored in his next project American Stories — a collection inspired by cities across the United States and his dream to perform in Nashville.
In ‘Light in the Dark’, Camrose demonstrates how personal stories and collective experiences can come together to create music that uplifts and inspires.
