Marshmello links with Jelly Roll on ‘Holy Water’, classic strings, big hook, emotional core, Mercury and Big Loud release.
A new chapter arrives for Marshmello as he unveils ‘Holy Water’ with Jelly Roll, out now via Mercury Records, Big Loud Records. The track points forward and back at once, reaching into classic country textures while riding the pulse that has powered Marshmello’s biggest records.
He built the foundation with intention, drawing on 12 string guitar, baritone guitar, and mandolin, all performed in the studio, and then blending those voices with an up tempo beat and kinetic synths. The result feels lived in and new at the same time. Jelly Roll’s vocal sits right inside that space, rising with spirit on the refrain, “One tear for the brokenhearted, pour out a little holy water.”
It tugs heartstrings and hits with force, a pairing of tone and theme that carries through every section. The cut shows how easily these two artists meet in the middle, keeping the feeling warm and the energy high.
Marshmello frames the intent clearly. “It’s really heartfelt. This is one of the most emotional songs I’ve ever released. It’s about losing a loved one. Unfortunately, a lot of us can relate to that. When I showed the initial idea to Jelly Roll and told him the story, he loved it. He’s an open book, and it was really great to see how it resonated. It inspired me to go in even more on the production and get creative with the country elements. He definitely brought it home to where it is now.”
‘Holy Water’ arrives as Marshmello’s second country leaning collaboration. He first made history in the format alongside Kane Brown on ‘Miles On It’, described as “the first song ever to debut at #1 on both the Top Dance, Electronic Songs Chart and Top Country Songs Chart.” The release follows his earlier 2025 run, ‘Worlds Apart’ [feat. Feat. AR/CO], ‘Save My Love’ [with Ellie Goulding & AVAION], and ‘Slow Motion’ [with Jonas Brothers]. The momentum is bright, and the music keeps lifting.
