Debut album ‘The Hard Way’ lands September 26 on Atlantic Records, Cameron Whitcomb premieres ‘Fragile’ and expands tour plans.

Cameron Whitcomb lays out what is next. ‘The Hard Way’ will be released September 26 through Atlantic Records, and listeners can secure the project now with pre orders and pre saves. To mark the announcement, he delivers ‘Fragile’, a single that signals how personal this album will be.

“This record is every piece of who I am,” says Whitcomb. “And I sincerely hope you enjoy it.”

The album’s frame is Whitcomb’s real life road. It captures the turbulence of youth, including addiction at an early age, then follows through to recovery and adulthood. ‘Fragile’ lives inside that narrative. It is presented as his rawest song so far, and it sets expectations for the kind of honesty that runs through the full tracklist.

“‘Fragile’ is about being told to man up your whole childhood and pushing away everyone that cares because of your own insecurities,” shares Whitcomb. “It’s a song that came from a place of finally starting to understand why I was the way I was — and wanting to change that.”

Behind the scenes, Jack Riley produces, bringing experience from Grace VanderWaal and Knox. Writing credits include Nolan Sipe and Cal Shapiro, associated with Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’. The lyric focus aims at the universal hope of finding love that recognizes everything a person has carried and overcome.

The plan from studio to stage is already mapped. Whitcomb opens with a top billed appearance at Ontario’s Boots and Hearts Music Festival. He then travels to the EU and UK for a sold out leg of the Hundred Mile High Tour. The return to North America brings the I’ve Got Options Tour, which begins on September 26 in Portland, Oregon and continues through mid November. Most dates have already reached sold out status, including two nights at LA’s Troubadour on October 4 and 5, and additional shows were added in Atlanta and Nashville due to overwhelming demand.

With ‘Fragile’ as the entry point, ‘The Hard Way’ stands ready to define the fall.
