New bachata ‘Por Fa No Te Vayas’ marks Jay Wheeler’s tropical turn, with ‘Girasoles’ doc and streaming stats in focus.
With ‘Por Fa No Te Vayas’, Jay Wheeler pivots toward a tropical palette and introduces a bachata that leans into tenderness and longing. The multi platinum singer songwriter presents the single as the start of a fresh phase, one that underscores why he is viewed as a versatile presence within Latin music. The track arrives on Dynamic Records, EMPIRE and is out now on all major digital services.
The idea was sparked by watching peers explore tropical genres, and Jay Wheeler followed that inspiration into a story that balances heartbreak and hope, asking the person you envisioned forever with to remain by your side. The song took root at home. During a studio session, he heard a bachata produced by Yeziell and co written by Puerto Rican songwriter Vasave. He then stamped the record with his tone and delivery, guiding it into an intimate, melodic space that matches the island flavor he wanted to visit.
“I wanted to do something tropical and different, to challenge myself with a style I hadn’t tried before. I had done salsa once, but I felt I still needed to do bachata. I never imagined it would turn out so special—honestly, it’s one of my favorite songs,” said Jay Wheeler.
Beyond the single, the story continues on film. ‘Girasoles: Desde La Raíz’, directed by Enrique (Emma) González and produced by Dynamic Records, invites fans into a closer view of Jay Wheeler’s personal life and creative process. The documentary complements ‘Girasoles’, his most personal album to date.
