Joe Average Drop “Panic Buttons” — Their First Official Track in Over 30 Years

Long-dormant UK rave act Joe Average release “Panic Buttons,” merging 1990s spirit with modern fire.

After more than three decades away from the spotlight, Joe Average are back with “Panic Buttons”, their latest track and first official release since the early ’90s. The single, available now, bridges past and present, capturing the heart of the UK’s rave legacy with modern production finesse.

Originally known as Joshua Cry’s Wolf, the trio—Rich, Mad Mick, and Prof—were part of the UK rave explosion in 1990. Their anthem “Infinity (Time for the Guru)” gained a cult following in underground circles, known for its sax hook and frenetic live energy.

Everything changed on Friday the 13th, October 2023, when Rich and Mick reunited unexpectedly—34 years to the day after their last performance. “It was like the universe was telling us to finish what we started,” Rich says. The final piece? Reconnecting with Prof, who they found—incredibly—in his original 1989 rave top.

“Panic Buttons” is a bold blend of old-school and new, complete with Mick’s sax, Prof’s keyboards, and Rich’s explosive drums. The addition of rising vocalist Faber adds raw attitude and soul, creating a track that’s both grounded in history and fiercely forward-looking.

Though years had passed, Rich’s creative energy never faded. After a devastating motorcycle accident ended his drumming career, he went on to launch a global motorcycle brand and build his own home. Now, “Panic Buttons” marks a powerful return—not just to music, but to identity.
