Mabel reclaims her sound and story on new self-titled mixtape, featuring the hypnotic single “Turn Me Up.”
Mabel’s self-titled mixtape has arrived, signaling a pivotal chapter in her musical journey. Released via Polydor Records, the 9-track collection draws listeners into the multifaceted world of one of the UK’s most dynamic pop voices.
The mixtape features collaborations with producers Oscar Scheller and Arthur Bean, as well as rapper Clavish, whose appearance on “Benz” adds a grounded edge to the project’s emotional breadth. Central to the release is the new focus track “Turn Me Up,” which blends subtle confidence with lush instrumentation.
Mabel reflects: “This mixtape being self-titled is an important moment for me because it feels like a reintroduction…I reflected a lot on my ten years in the industry and the tape ended up being a somewhat toxic love letter to the ups, downs and in between of everything I’ve experienced.”
“Turn Me Up,” produced by Oscar Scheller, uses immersive guitar loops and thunderous percussion to frame Mabel’s smooth vocal delivery. The result is emotionally resonant and aurally captivating.
Sharing her thoughts on the single, she adds: “This track is definitely my favourite on the mixtape. It’s about the imperfect side of relationships and meeting your match for better or for worse!”
Mabel’s blend of introspection and sonic versatility is evident across all nine tracks, which include previously released fan favorites “January 19” and “Love Me Gentle.” This project reaffirms her ability to fuse personal narrative with polished pop execution.
