Leigh-Anne returns with “Been A Minute,” a fresh single sampling “Work” by Masters at Work.
British artist Leigh-Anne is officially back, unveiling her new single “Been A Minute” through Virgin Music Group. The track serves as a vibrant sonic reintroduction, capturing a mix of personal nostalgia and contemporary flair.
Co-produced by Elijah “GYW Eli” Ross and Lasse Qvist, and co-written by Leigh-Anne herself, “Been A Minute” blends classic dancehall rhythms with an instantly recognizable vocal hook from Masters at Work’s “Work.” Her smooth vocal delivery rides the beat effortlessly, signaling an evolution in sound.
The video, directed by Femi Lade, mirrors the song’s celebratory energy. Centered around a carnival-inspired atmosphere, the video balances high-tempo choreography with a layered storyline that features a mysterious red figure overtaking Leigh-Anne’s performance.
Reflecting on the track’s roots, Leigh-Anne shared:
“There’s something powerful about sampling a song that shaped me growing up… ‘Been a Minute’ is fun, nostalgic, and the first taste of this new era…”
This is her first musical release since 2024’s ‘No Hard Feelings’ EP, an introspective and culturally rich project that leaned into Leigh-Anne’s Caribbean heritage. The success of that release carried over into her debut headlining tour across the UK and Ireland, which sold out in full.
Now, with “Been A Minute,” Leigh-Anne looks toward the summer with a packed festival itinerary. She is set to take the stage at Reading and Leeds, and will headline both Manchester Pride and Mighty Hoopla Malta.
