“Dang” is the latest track from Rainbow Kitten Surprise, featuring a music video set in East Nashville.
Rainbow Kitten Surprise are back with their newest offering, “Dang”, out now on Atlantic Records, and it’s already shaping up to be a go-to anthem for the summer season. The single arrives alongside a creative music video that serves as both an homage to film and a vibrant love letter to the city of Nashville.
The track blends expressive guitar work with a chorus meant for crowd sing-alongs and car stereo shout-outs. Ela Melo takes lead with emotionally resonant vocals that give the track both warmth and weight. “Dang” is built for moments of motion—soundtracking everything from solo walks to road trip epiphanies.
The accompanying video adds depth to the single’s tone. Taking cues from the 2008 indie film Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, it follows a real-life couple on a nighttime quest to find a secret Rainbow Kitten Surprise concert. Set in East Nashville, the video trades Manhattan’s back alleys for southern streets while keeping the spirit of discovery and connection intact.
The band shared their vision for the project:
“When we wrote this, we envisioned tracking it with Jay Joyce and it’s pretty legendary that actually came to be… For your enjoyment, here’s ‘Dang.’”
True to their reputation for unexpected combinations and layered meaning, Rainbow Kitten Surprise once again showcase a sound that’s rooted in identity, community, and reflection. “Dang” isn’t just a new release—it’s a celebration of where the band has been and a preview of where they’re headed.
