Calum Hood releases his solo debut ‘ORDER chaos ORDER’ via Capitol Records, led by “Sunsetter.”
After more than a decade with global pop-rock sensation 5 Seconds of Summer, Calum Hood steps into a bold new chapter with the release of his debut solo album, ‘ORDER chaos ORDER’, out now via Capitol Records. The record is accompanied by the official music video for the luminous new track “Sunsetter.”
A compelling evolution for the 29-year-old musician, the album is both dazzling and brooding. Described by Calum as a deeply personal journey, ‘ORDER chaos ORDER’ explores vulnerability, growth, and the emotional aftermath of life-altering transitions. “My lyrics come from a place of purity,” he explains. “Growing up, the whole reason I wanted to do music was so that I could write songs. It was important to pay homage to that side of my younger self.”
Crafted largely with Jackson Phillips (Day Wave), the album also features production contributions from David Burris and TMS, blending digital textures and live instrumentation to form a soundscape that is intimate yet vast.
The project opens with “Don’t Forget You Love Me” — a song hailed by Rolling Stone as a “Song You Need To Know.” This emotional cornerstone sets the tone for the introspective journey that unfolds across nine tracks. Highlights include the atmospheric “Sweetdreams”, the breezy “All My Affection”, and “Call Me When You Know Better” — a breakthrough moment in the album’s creation and a sonic representation of mental turbulence.
With ‘ORDER chaos ORDER’, Calum Hood makes a confident and quietly radical statement — not just as a solo artist, but as a storyteller in full bloom.
