British singer-songwriter Sam Garrett announces One Family, a forthcoming full- length album that captures the essence of unity and resilience in a fragmented world. Scheduled for release this summer, the record finds Garrett weaving threads of 60s folk, reggae, and sacred mantra into a modern sonic tapestry.
“This album is my ode to the freedom movements of the 60s and the music expressed by the youth of that time, ” Garrett explains.
The record pays homage to cultural pioneers like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young—artists who used music to mobilize change. In that spirit, One Family explores both hope and reckoning.
Tracks like “Be Free” and “One Family” provide bright affirmations of peace, while “Hey Amma, ” featuring Mortimer, voices ancestral wounds with lyrics such as: “I am the coloniser’s son, the one who won’t obey, the dream that you once had has turned into decay.”
“Freedom is our nature and this album is a reflection of that, ” Garrett says. Far from escapism, Garrett’s album is a grounding return to truth. One Family doesn’t shy away from painful history, but transforms it into a universal prayer for healing. It is, in every way, a modern folk meditation equally personal and political—crafted to soothe, awaken, and unify.
