i-dle kick off a new chapter with [We are], their confident first release under their updated name.

International K-pop trailblazers i-dle launch a transformative new chapter with the release of [We are], the first original body of work under their redefined moniker. Formerly known as (G)I-DLE, the globally acclaimed group—MINNIE, MIYEON, SHUHUA, SOYEON, and YUQI—present six original tracks led by the commanding focus track “Good Thing.”

Celebrating their 7th anniversary this month, the group dropped the “G” and parentheses from their name to symbolize their limitless identity, moving beyond gender associations and rigid definitions. The name change is not just cosmetic—it reflects i-dle’s vision for the future: self-directed, limitless, and artistically bold.

With over 6.8 million monthly Spotify listeners and 6 billion YouTube views, i-dle have built a reputation as global icons who consistently break boundaries in K-pop. Known for creating their own music, i-dle blend creative control with commercial success. [We are] builds on their legacy with a fresh sonic palette and fearless themes.

Since their 2018 debut with “LATATA,” the quintet has stacked up #1 debuts in Korea, Billboard World Albums top 10s, and record-shattering album sales. Their 2023 LP I Feel topped charts, while 2 crossed the million-sales mark in under two days—ranking them as one of the top five K-pop girl groups in initial release sales.

[We are] reinforces why outlets like GRAMMY.com highlight i-dle’s drive to “break stereotypes.” This new era underscores their autonomy and global influence as they continue to expand what K-pop can be.
