FINNEAS drops a cinematic video for “2001,” featuring Kate Hudson and directed by Claudia Sulewski.

GRAMMY® and Academy Award-winning artist FINNEAS has officially released the music video for “2001”, a standout track from his acclaimed sophomore album For Cryin’ Out Loud! [Interscope Records]. The video, directed by Claudia Sulewski, brings a unique mix of cheeky storytelling and visual homage, showcasing FINNEAS as a hopelessly infatuated actor and Kate Hudson as his aloof director.

The playful visual draws creative inspiration from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, with Claudia Sulewski blending cinematic homage with humorous on-set dynamics.

“When I first started conceptualizing this music video, I knew I wanted to pay homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey, with nods to some of the film’s most iconic set ups like the fisheye lens and the upside-down sequence, along with a few little easter eggs from the behind-the-scenes of the film (Finneas shaking his head while traveling through space, the diorama reveal at the end).

To play off Finneas’s lyrics, I wanted to mix in some light, cheeky moments between Finneas and Kate. An actor hopelessly in love with his director, who couldn’t care less and is only focused on making a great film,” said Sulewski.

The video follows a SOLD-OUT year for FINNEAS, who recently wrapped his international headline tour spanning the U.K., Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and North America. He also made his television scoring debut this year with Alfonso Cuarón’s Disclaimer on Apple TV+.

This summer, FINNEAS will perform at top European festivals before returning to the U.S. for sets at Osheaga, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands.
