SOFI TUKKER and Seu Jorge team up for “Bread (butter version),” from their new Brazilian album “butter”.
GRAMMY-nominated electronic duo SOFI TUKKER have released “Bread (butter version),” a silky, jazz-inflected reimagining of their 2024 track “Bread.” Featuring renowned Brazilian artist Seu Jorge, the single previews their new album butter, set for release May 16 via Ultra Records.
butter represents a creative pivot for SOFI TUKKER—Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern—into more organic, jazz-influenced Brazilian and Latin sounds. A companion to their 2024 album BREAD, butter embraces genres like MPB, bossa nova, samba, bolero, and bachata, recorded in Brazil and featuring live instrumentation and local musicians.

The collaboration with Seu Jorge—known for his iconic voice and cinematic work—was a dream for the duo. Sophie reflects, “The night we recorded with Seu Jorge will be especially ingrained in my memory forever… he has one of those once-in-a-generation voices and I still can’t believe we got to do a song with him.”
A role reversal, the “butter version” of “Bread” features Sophie singing in Portuguese and Seu Jorge in English—contrary to their initial plan. The result is a sensual, cross-cultural exchange wrapped in a breezy, top-down atmosphere that redefines their dancefloor roots.
SOFI TUKKER’s 2025 includes performances at BottleRock Napa Valley, Breakaway Festival Ohio, World Pride in DC, and a special butter set at Newport Jazz Festival. After headlining their own North American tour in 2024 and supporting Kygo and J Balvin, they remain festival mainstays and champions of activism, sustainability, and creative expression.
