Samantha Fish releases “Paper Doll,” a fearless new album blending rock, soul, and electrifying guitar.

Kansas City-bred, New Orleans-based musician Samantha Fish, hailed as “a genuine force of sonic prowess” (Rolling Stone), has released her new solo album Paper Doll, available now on Rounder Records. Produced by Bobby Harlow (The Go), Paper Doll captures Fish’s signature “bold and expressive” sound (NPR World Cafe) while pushing her artistry into new, daring territory.

To mark the album’s release, Fish will make her national TV debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show, performing the fiery single “Lose You.” Featuring a searing guitar solo and “sizzling slide escapades” (Premier Guitar), “Lose You” is a commanding anthem. “It’s a song about taking control and calling the shots in a relationship,” explains Fish. “It’s my way of saying, ‘I’m on fire and you’re not, so what are you gonna do about it?’”

On Paper Doll, Fish delivers nine tracks rich with emotional depth and fearless bravado, “stretching idiomatic boundaries” (Nashville Scene) as she blends rock, soul, and more. She describes the album’s title as a rebellion against imposed expectations: “It’s about rebelling against other people’s expectations of who you’re supposed to be.”

Recorded during her relentless touring schedule, Paper Doll captures the “road-worn chemistry and raw, electric charm” (Blues Rock Review) of her live band: Ron Johnson (bass), Jamie Douglass (drums), and Mickey Finn (keys).

Following the Grammy-nominated Death Wish Blues and collaborations with The Rolling Stones and Jon Spencer, Fish is currently touring across North America, including performances at JazzFest.
