Rising alt-pop artist LALA HAYDEN shares empowering single “beast” and releases her introspective new EP “viva venus”.
London/Barcelona-based alt-pop artist LALA HAYDEN brings her viva venus era to a close with the release of new single “beast,” the fourth and final track on her dazzling new EP. Produced alongside Ben Christophers (Bat For Lashes, Françoise Hardy), the track delivers her most euphoric pop moment to date — a vulnerable anthem born from self-doubt and rising into self-worth.
“I knew ‘beast’ had to go on the EP from day 1,” LALA shares. “I’m usually quite bratty in my delivery… but ‘beast’ felt like a moment where all my guards are down. It felt important to explore this vulnerability and allow that side of me to be seen.”
Built around shimmering synths and unfiltered emotion, “beast” arrives as a standout from an EP already filled with striking moments. viva venus opens with the haunting “honeymoon suite” — co-written with Sam McTrusty and Ross McNae of Twin Atlantic — a lovesick lullaby capturing emotional escape through infatuation. Tracks like “baby you’re the best!” and “rush of love” delve into the effects of emotional neglect and digital-age intimacy, with LALA asking: “What would it sound like if Madonna’s Confessions on a Dance Floor met Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love?”
Describing viva venus as “an ode to modern love,” LALA notes, “My music is always a love letter to a female archetype… Venus — the goddess of love, sex, fertility and victory.”
With recent festival highlights including Eurosonic, The Great Escape, and Liverpool Sound City, LALA HAYDEN continues to solidify her voice as one of the boldest and most intentional in modern alt-pop. viva venus is out now.
