Bellah Mae Launches a Savage New Era with “Bad Day To Be My Ex”

UK pop riser Bellah Mae kicks off 2025 with the unapologetic “Bad Day To Be My Ex,” showcasing her evolution.

Bellah Mae is done holding back. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter from Solihull, Birmingham, begins 2025 with “Bad Day To Be My Ex,” a fiery, R&B-tinged pop anthem that signals a bold new era. Known for her confessional songwriting and fearless storytelling, Bellah blends pop theatrics with grounded emotional truths—and her latest single is no exception.

Written in Nashville with Brigetta Truitt and produced by Brett Truitt, “Bad Day To Be My Ex” is the embodiment of emotional evolution. “I’ve really learned that I don’t have to be too strong all the time — I can still be soft. But if you break my heart… I’ll write an absolutely savage song about you,” she shares.

With over 100K cumulative streams, two sold-out UK tours, and a Tate McRae co-sign under her belt, Bellah Mae has carved out a niche that balances vulnerability with confidence. The single references her as a “Gen-Z Pamela Anderson,” a nod to her love for ‘90s pop culture icons like Pamela and Dolly Parton—women who’ve reclaimed their narratives, just as Bellah is doing now.

While 2024’s Never Waste A Heartbreak EP leaned into introspection, her upcoming releases reflect a newfound freedom. “My new songs make me want to get out, blast them in the car, and just live,” she says.

“Bad Day To Be My Ex” sets the tone for what promises to be Bellah Mae’s biggest year yet: louder, sharper, and more self-assured than ever.
