Country-pop star Tanner Adell unveils “Going Blonde,” a deeply personal single inspired by her adoption story.
Tanner Adell steps into a powerful new chapter with the release of her vulnerable and soul-baring single “Going Blonde,” out now. Written alone on a Nashville barstool, the track marks a pivotal moment for the country-pop rising star as she confronts her past and redefines her identity.
“Going Blonde” is rooted in a deeply personal revelation. After taking a DNA test gifted by her adoptive parents, Adell connected with her brother and discovered the truth behind her birth and adoption—learning not only that the origin story she was told was untrue, but that her birth mother had passed away before they could meet.
“I’m really putting my heart out there to be completely examined,” Adell shares. “It’s been five years since my brother found me. I think I’m still learning things and I’m definitely still grieving. But I’m ready to release it as a form of my own therapy.”

Inspired by a single picture of her late mother—blonde, blue-eyed, and reminiscent of Dolly Parton—Adell found solace in Parton’s legacy, particularly her debut single “Dumb Blonde.” That connection reshaped Adell’s relationship with her own hair color and gave “blonde” a new meaning.
“Being blonde has been something that’s been a major part of my identity,” she says. “This is a way that I’m going to keep her close.”
With a powerful message of identity and healing, “Going Blonde” ushers in a bold new era for Adell as she builds toward her debut album. Fresh off UK performances at C2C Festival and an appearance at the GLAAD Awards, she’s set to present at Billboard Women In Music tomorrow.
