Ruger returns with BlownBoy Ru, an Afrodancehall statement with features from Tiwa Savage, Kranium & more.

Nigerian singer-songwriter and rising global force Ruger has officially released his highly anticipated sophomore album BlownBoy Ru, available now via Promised Land Records. Following his 2023 debut Ru The World, this new project showcases the evolution of Ruger’s globally adored Afrodancehall sound, while introducing a refined, more intentional side to his artistry.

“With Ru The World, I was proving a point, showing people that Ruger is not just a hitmaker but an artist with depth and range. But on this album, I feel more comfortable in my artistry,” Ruger says. “My songwriting has evolved; with more intentional lyrics, delivery, and emotions I’m passing across.”

The 15-track project includes previously released singles “Jay Jay,” a tribute to Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha, and the viral “Toma Toma” featuring Tiwa Savage, which has already surpassed 30 million streams. The focus single “DuDu,” featuring Jamaican dancehall star Kranium, arrives with a sultry new music video that embodies the album’s sleek, genre-blending vibe.

Other highlights include “Give Away” with rapper Zlatan and the amapiano-soul fusion of “Runaway” featuring Ugandan singer Haile. Ruger embraces R&B, Fuji, dancehall, and Afrobeats influences with the mindset behind the album title: BlownBoy is a statement of confidence, creativity, and freedom.

The COLORS performance of “Toro” added even more anticipation in the lead-up to the album, and with a MOBO nomination for Best African Music Act and a spot on Spotify’s 2025 Global Artist To Watch list, Ruger is cementing his place at the forefront of contemporary African music.

Ruger kicks off a global tour this spring, with stops across the US, Europe, and the UK this September—including London’s Indigo at The O2.
