Darren Kiely continues to establish himself as a rising singer-songwriter with the release of two new songs, “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road,” out now via Free Flight Records. Known for his deeply personal storytelling, Kiely once again delivers poignant reflections on nostalgia, loss, and change.
“Mulcair Road” is an upbeat, guitar-driven track exploring the bittersweet emotions of revisiting a place from childhood that no longer feels the same. Co-written with Ross Ellis, Joe Fox, and Geoff Warburton, the song captures the longing for familiarity and the realization that time moves forward. “It describes the expectation of familiarity and safety but the realization that time has passed and what you left isn’t there anymore,” Kiely explains.
In contrast, “Old & Grey” takes a more melancholic approach, reflecting on the inescapable feeling of losing a loved one. Written with Joe Fox and Geoff Warburton, the track features poetic lyricism and haunting background whistles that enhance its emotional depth. “It expresses how we can lose our identity without those we love the most,” Kiely shares.
As Kiely continues his Never Been Here Before World Tour, these new songs offer fans another glimpse into his evolving artistry. With his signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and evocative melodies, “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road” further solidify his reputation as an artist to watch.
Both tracks are available now on all streaming platforms.
