EthanUno shares ‘phase 1,’ a bilingual, hyperpop-infused track following his debut EP necesidad.
Fresh off the release of his debut EP, necesidad, EthanUno is back with a flirty, genre-blending new single, “phase 1.” Out now via Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope, the track showcases EthanUno’s signature mix of hyperpop, R&B, Latin croon, and lo-fi dance, all wrapped in a West Coast hip-hop groove.
The song finds EthanUno in full control, delivering bilingual lyrics that set the stage for an all-night party:
“No quiero dormir, I wanna stay up / Been a while since you had a night off, take one / And if the party ain’t a vibe we gone make one / It’s ’bout be a long night, we in phase one.”
The minimalist music video captures the song’s energy, with EthanUno performing on a rooftop at sunset, decked out in a Padres snapback, oversized shades, and a heart-shaped pendant—a prelude to the night ahead.
Following tracks like “DQTC” and “las mañanas” from necesidad, “phase 1” reinforces EthanUno’s status as a rising force in the Latin pop and hyperpop space. His DIY production approach remains a staple, as he once again writes, produces, records, and masters the track himself from his home studio.
