Hannah Bahng unveils “what never lived,” a poignant new single exploring lost love, paired with a self-directed music video.
Australian singer-songwriter hannah bahng is back with her latest single, “what never lived,” an emotionally charged track that delves into the pain of mourning a relationship that never truly existed. Released via her independent label, Bahng Entertainment, the song is accompanied by a deeply evocative music video, directed and produced by hannah herself.
Co-written, composed, and produced by hannah and Andrew Luce (known for collaborations with iann dior, Role Model, and Lil Nas X), the song blends raw emotion with an alternative edge. Originally created on the piano, it evolved into a powerful guitar-driven anthem that perfectly encapsulates the song’s depth. Lyrics such as “Sometimes I think about what we could’ve been/The magic of the past still haunts me within” illustrate the turmoil of navigating a fleeting yet emotionally impactful connection.
The music video intensifies the song’s themes, capturing hannah’s realization of a relationship’s illusion as she witnesses the person she believed she was with alongside someone else. A climactic fight scene and a cathartic finale—burning a Polaroid and embracing freedom with friends—bring the story full circle.
Following her sold-out U.S. tour, where she performed in Dallas, Houston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, hannah is set to take the stage again. Fans, known as Blues, can catch her live this March as she returns to Australia for her home-country tour.
