Rising artist Novulent releases BEFORE EVOLUTION, a three-song EP showcasing his growth. Now streaming on all platforms.
Novulent, the rising 20-year-old artist making waves in alternative music, has released his highly anticipated EP, BEFORE EVOLUTION, via Capitol Records. The three-song collection bridges the gap between his breakout success with “scars” and his evolving sound, offering fans a glimpse into what’s next.
One standout track, “death wish,” features Novulent’s captivating storytelling as he explores the dangerous allure of a toxic relationship. On the second verse, New Zealand artist whatsaheart joins with a hauntingly melodic performance, amplifying the track’s cinematic intensity. “The premise behind ‘death wish’ is a toxic relationship but very exaggerated, in order to be cinematic,” Novulent shares. “It feels like a death wish—you feel like you’re actually dying and being harmed by being around them. Your emotions are heightened.”

The release coincides with the final stretch of Novulent’s debut headline Evolution Tour, which has included sold-out shows in cities like Chicago and Los Angeles. The tour wraps with stops in Houston, Dallas, and New York City, where Novulent will play Mercury Lounge on February 1. Supporting acts The Missing Peace and Olive Vox have joined him on this milestone run.
Known for his genre-blending sound inspired by hard rock, shoegaze, and Midwest emo, Novulent began his music journey at 17 using Bandlab. BEFORE EVOLUTION not only reflects his emotional vulnerability but also his growth as an artist. With over 111 million Spotify streams for his hit “scars,” Novulent is just getting started.
