Ria Rua, Ireland’s rising alt-rock artist and producer, has released her compelling new single and music video, “I Love That For You.” Bursting with moody melodies and industrial textures, the track delves into the universal challenge of remaining true to oneself in a world that often demands conformity.

The haunting vocals and introspective tone of “I Love That For You” are rooted in Ria Rua’s personal journey. Reflecting on the song, she shares: “As a teenager music consumed me, but everyone around me thought my best option was to settle down, work at a shop, and marry a local farmer. It took years of constant struggle, with myself and with family and friends, to come to terms with my truth—I can only be happy being myself and living my life in a way that feels true to me. This song is about that journey, from fear to freedom.”

Hailing from rural Meath, Ireland, Ria Rua’s path to alt-rock prominence has been unconventional. As a neurodivergent and queer artist, she has used music as a means of self-expression and rebellion, from her early days as a drummer to her evolution as a bold singer-songwriter.

Her recent singles, “You’ll Only Like Me When I’m Dead” and “I Want You,” have garnered critical acclaim, landing spots on Spotify playlists like New Music Friday and An Alternative Future, as well as radio airplay across Ireland, the UK, Germany, and the US. In 2023, she performed at Dublin’s Vicar Street, supporting Soda Blonde, and headlined the Musictown Festival.

With her debut album on the horizon, “I Love That For You” is a powerful declaration of individuality and artistic freedom, solidifying Ria Rua’s place as one of alt-rock’s most revolutionary voices.
